The Right Charger Depends on How Long Your Customers Stay

A customer spending three hours at a golf club has very different charging requirements from a driver stopping briefly at a busy commercial location.

That's why destination charging shouldn't automatically mean installing the highest-powered charger available.

EN+ provides AC and DC charging options that allow the charging infrastructure to be designed around customer dwell time, vehicle numbers, available site power and the commercial objectives of the location.

1

EN+ AC Charging

7kW / 11kW / 22kW

Ideal for fleet vehicles that remain parked for longer periods or overnight. Select the charging configuration to suit vehicle dwell time, onboard charging capability and available site power.

2

EN+ DC Charging

40kW – 300kW

For fleet operations where vehicle turnaround is critical, EN+ DC charging provides significantly higher charging power for vehicles that need to get back on the road quickly. IA Charger currently offers EN+ DC options across this power range.

Dynamic Load Balancing for
Fleet EV Charging

Charge More Vehicles. Make Better Use of Your Available Power.

Adding multiple EV chargers can create a significant new electrical demand at a fleet depot or commercial premises.

But every connected vehicle doesn't necessarily need maximum charging power at exactly the same time.

EN+ Dynamic Load Management monitors the power available to the charging installation and dynamically controls the power allocated to EV charging, maximising charging output while preventing overload and subsequent power trips.

Why does this matter for a fleet? 10 chargers don't necessarily require 10 times the maximum charger capacity — vehicles arrive at different times, require different amounts of energy and remain parked for different periods. EN+ Load Balance Controller Box helps manage this load, providing multiple balancing options to perfectly suit your fleets' charging needs. A Dual Level LBC system, time based and priority load management are all managed within our suite of products, all included with the cost of the hardware. We can help advise on the best load balancing system based on your unique requirements.

Dynamic Load Balancing allows the charging infrastructure to work within the power available at the site rather than allowing every charger to demand its maximum output simultaneously, which becomes particularly important when moving from a handful of EVs to a significantly larger electric fleet.

HOW IT WORKS

1. MONITOR

The EN+ Load Balance Controller monitors site electrical consumption.

2. CALCULATE

The system determines the capacity available for EV charging within the configured site limit.

3. DISTRIBUTE

Available charging power is distributed across the connected chargers.

4. ADJUST

Charging output can respond as the electrical demand elsewhere on the site changes.

LBC Load Balance config-1phase.jpg

EN+'s commercial system supports both Average Power Distribution (APD) and Full-Load Priority (FLP) strategies for allocating available charging capacity, along with Dual level LBC for controlling multiple stations within one overall power supply, time based load balancing for fleets' that know which EV needs to be charged first. No matter your requirements we can help provide a solution.

Why Does This Matter for a Fleet?
10 chargers don't necessarily require 10 × the maximum charger capacity
Your vehicles may arrive at different times, require different amounts of energy and remain parked for different periods.
Dynamic Load Balancing allows the charging infrastructure to work within the power available at the site rather than simply allowing every charger to demand its maximum output simultaneously.
That can be particularly important when moving from a handful of EVs to a significantly larger electric fleet.

FAQs

How many EV chargers can I install at my business? There is no fixed number of EV chargers that a business can install. The number will depend on your site's available electrical capacity, the power rating of the chargers, the number of vehicles that need to charge and how quickly those vehicles need to be ready. Importantly, installing ten 22kW chargers does not necessarily mean your site needs 220kW of additional available power. With EN+ Dynamic Load Management, available electrical capacity can be intelligently distributed across multiple chargers. The EN+ Load Balance Controller monitors site consumption and manages the power available for EV charging in real time. This can allow businesses to install more charging points without every charger requiring its maximum rated power simultaneously. IA Charger can help determine the most appropriate combination of chargers and load management for your fleet requirements.

Do fleet EV chargers need load balancing? For a small installation with plenty of spare electrical capacity, load balancing may not always be necessary. However, it becomes increasingly valuable as the number of EV chargers and the potential charging demand increase. EN+ Dynamic Load Balancing is designed to prevent EV charging from exceeding the electrical capacity allocated to the site or charging installation. Rather than allowing every connected EV charger to draw maximum power simultaneously, the system can adjust charging output according to the available capacity. EN+ describes the objective as maximising charging output — or enabling more charge points to operate — within limited electrical infrastructure while helping prevent overload and power trips. For fleet depots and workplaces planning to expand their EV fleet, designing load management into the charging infrastructure from the beginning can also make future expansion considerably easier.

Can I track how much electricity each vehicle uses? Yes. Evchargo Cloud records charging-session and transaction information, allowing fleet operators to monitor how their charging infrastructure is being used. The platform provides transaction management together with operational and energy data. Operators can view individual transaction details as well as total transactions across the charging stations they operate. Evchargo also provides operational reporting and data analysis, helping businesses understand charger utilisation and energy consumption rather than relying solely on the overall electricity bill. The platform's data-analysis functionality is designed to support energy management, utilisation analysis and accurate billing and financial analysis. This is particularly useful for businesses that need to distinguish between different drivers, users or charging locations.

Can employees and fleet vehicles use the same EV chargers? Yes. The same EN+ charging infrastructure can be used for company fleet vehicles, employees and, where required, visitors or other authorised users. Evchargo Cloud provides user management and RFID card management, allowing businesses to control access to their charging infrastructure. This means a workplace does not necessarily need separate charging infrastructure for fleet vehicles and employee EVs. The charging arrangement can instead be designed around the business's requirements — for example, company vehicles may charge as part of fleet operations while employees or visitors can be managed separately. Where charging costs need to be recovered, billing options can also be incorporated into the solution.

Can fleet EV charging be billed? Yes. EN+ commercial chargers combined with Evchargo Cloud can support billing as part of a commercial EV charging installation. Evchargo Cloud includes billing and financial management, transaction management and user management, allowing the charging operator to monitor charging sessions and manage the financial side of the charging service. This can be particularly useful where the same charging infrastructure is shared between different groups. For example, a business may provide charging to its own fleet as an operating cost while applying a different charging arrangement for employees, visitors or other users. IA Charger can provide billing solutions to suit the way you want your charging infrastructure to operate.

Do I need DC fast chargers or AC chargers for my fleet? It depends primarily on how long your vehicles are parked, how much energy they need and how quickly they need to return to service. AC charging is often well suited to fleet vehicles that remain at a depot or workplace for several hours or overnight. EN+ AC options include 7kW, 11kW and 22kW charging, allowing the infrastructure to be matched to vehicle dwell time and available site power. DC fast charging becomes more important where vehicles have shorter turnaround times and need significant energy added quickly. This can be particularly relevant to high-utilisation commercial fleets where vehicles cannot remain parked for long charging periods. Many fleet sites may ultimately benefit from a combination of AC and DC charging rather than choosing one exclusively. AC chargers can handle vehicles with longer dwell times while DC charging can be available for vehicles that need a faster turnaround. The best solution should therefore be based on your vehicle numbers, daily mileage, battery sizes, arrival and departure times and available site power — rather than simply selecting the highest-powered charger available.
